Job Summary

The Recruitment Specialist (Military Engagement) is a key member of the Purdue University Online (PUO) Student Acquisition Team—comprising Recruiting, Admissions, and Marketing—and plays a pivotal role in driving awareness, engagement, and enrollment in Purdue University’s online programs.

This position’s primary focus is student recruitment, with a special emphasis on engaging and supporting military-affiliated, veteran, and defense-connected learners. The Specialist represents Purdue’s high military-affinity programs as well as the broader portfolio of online offerings, serving as a trusted guide for prospective students from initial inquiry through enrollment.

In addition to direct recruiting, the Specialist provides program management and partnership coordination to strengthen Purdue’s long-term presence and success within the military education community. This includes developing and executing a strategic roadmap for education fairs and base engagement, managing recruiting relationships with military and industry partners, and supporting defense and outreach initiatives identified by the Executive Director of Military Educational and Strategic Partnerships. Working collaboratively across recruitment, marketing, advising, and academic teams, the Specialist ensures that Purdue’s engagement with the military community is cohesive, data-informed, and student-centered.

This role is best suited for individuals with a military background in service or recruitment who are highly driven, customer service oriented, self-starters, and who works effectively and collaboratively in a virtual work setting and enjoy a good deal of traveling.

Operating in a remote capacity, this role will have significant travel, anticipated at 50 - 60% during peak times to attend in-person recruiting events primarily focused on military bases and military-sponsored engagements across the US.

What We’re Looking For:

Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, business, human resources, or related field
• Three (3) years of previous experience in one or more of the following: customer service, student recruitment, admissions, or related; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Skills: 

• Professional experience with military learners, student recruitment, enrollment, or admissions
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and prior exposure to a database system; ability to create standard documents and reports
• Ability to work with large populations of students. Being able to empathize and form relationships

Nice to Have:

• Student recruitment - military specific experience
• Military background and experience with online programs
• University experience, especially with Purdue University system tools such as, Cognos, Slate, SharePoint, etc.
