The Senior AI/Automation Engineer will develop, analyze, test, implement, support, and enhance Purdue University’s AI-based software development life cycle. You will work on innovative AI projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the advancement of AI technologies within the Purdue University system. In addition, the Senior AI/Automation Engineer may be responsible for all aspects of the operating systems, application software and system management tools for AI-driven Data and Analytics solutions.  You will work to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results within area of specialization. May manage projects or processes which are often difficult and complex. Problems are unclear and may require understanding of a broad set of issues, areas, or specialties. This position will make moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems, or products to enhance performance of area. Communicate with parties within the university and may have contact with external parties. You will work to influence parties at an operational level regarding policies, practices, and procedures, and be responsible for coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level professionals.


This is a remote position.

This position has a target salary between $88,000 - $93,925 commensurate with education and experience.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience Needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, computer engineering, systems analysis, or closely related field
  • Minimum Four (4) to Five (5) years of experience in AI Automation (UiPath preferred)
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be accepted

 

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, computer engineering, systems analysis, or closely related field

 

Skills Needed:

  • Experience with automation tools
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for AI/ML model deployment
  • Experience in deploying AI/ML solutions
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and project management practices
  • Strong commitment to quality, attention to detail, and continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and drive results
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and SDLC processes
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders 
  • Creativity and a passion for innovation in the field of AI 
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and Java, as well as experience with industrial automation software platforms and working with popular machine learning libraries/frameworks 
  • Must be committed to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and Automation. 

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with UiPath and/or iPaaS
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture
  • ITIL certified
