Job Title:  Senior Facilities Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary

Responsible for facilitating, overseeing and completing critical maintenance and repair tasks, modifications to lab/office space, implementing and assessing department level maintenance procedures and processes, and determining best method to resolve non-routine repair/maintenance objectives.  Works closely with department Maintenance Manager and maintenance team to set priorities and complete operations and maintenance goals across department assigned spaces in HOCK, LILY, HANS, CHAS, LILY greenhouses, and field stations, including all shared labs and equipment, CryoEM core facilities, BSL2/BSL3 laboratory suites, and Ross Ecological Reserve. Works independently with limited supervision, and provides guidance and coaching to less experienced members of the maintenance team.  

 

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience Needed:

  • High School Degree or High School Equivalency (HSE)
  • Minimum of four (4) years maintenance, repair and/or renovation experience required
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive Department utility van required

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in the operation and repair of steam sterilizers 

 

Skills Needed:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, with a strong commitment to excellent customer service
  • Self-motivated, highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Must be able to work well in teams

 

Preferred:

  • Basic computer skills
