Job Title:  Program Director, PARI-GDI

Job Summary

The Purdue Applied Research Institute, Global Development and Innovation Lab (PARI-GDI) is a start-up, non-profit organization wholly owned by Purdue University. PARI-GDI seeks a Senior Operations Manager to support global development programming focusing on education & youth, technology & innovation, agriculture & food security, climate change, global health, and other technical sectors prioritized by global development funders.  Successful candidates will have demonstrated technical expertise in designing, winning, and implementing donor-funded programming by such entities as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Department of State, and/or other bi- and multi-lateral funding organizations.  
 
The position reports to the PARI-GDI Assistant Director for Program Management. Key general expectations include: managing global programs implementation funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID), U.S. Department of State, among other US Government (USG) and corporate funders, supporting organizational business development, and modeling PARI/GDI core values around collaboration, adaptability, and commitment to gender, diversity, equity. Collaboration with practice areas, faculty, students and staff is expected. Position can be on campus in W. Lafayette, IN or remote.   

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, international relations, or a related field; or a relevant combination of education and work experience
  • Seven (7) years of direct US government international project management and support experience, responsible for overseeing international project implementation and business development initiatives 
  • Experience in the delivery of US government projects in any of the following areas: youth & education, technology & innovation, agriculture & food security, climate change, global health, or other relevant technical sectors 
  • Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience 
  • Experience managing multiple large programs, including overseeing complicated budgets
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and effectively lead teams 
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills as well as attention to detail 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including delivering formal and informal presentations and drafting and editing deliverables 
  • Ability to travel and work overseas on short term technical assignments up to 25%, at times with very short notice 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) 

 

Preferred:

  • Experience working on USG contracts, cooperative agreements and grants
  • Experience developing and implementing project management systems in a start-up environment
