Large Animal Handler

Job Summary

This position will monitor and maintain the physical and environmental conditions of animals both large and small in a research or clinical setting. Feed, water, groom, bathe, exercise, and provide other types of care to ensure animal welfare. Administer medications, evaluate the general condition of animals, and collect and record data. Clean and maintain animal environments; order and stock supplies; follow approved protocols and standard operating procedures. May perform occasional euthanasia of animals.



  • High school diploma/GED
  • Experience handling horses
  • Ability to perform occasional euthanasia of animals


Additional Information:

  • Standard hours are 8 am - 5 pm; possibility of some weekend hours
  • Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible For Overtime)
