Job Summary
The School of Engineering Education (ENE) seeks a student Social Media Associate to help support ENE’s efforts to spark conversation, connection, and collaboration among the members of the ENE community through social media. Reporting to the ENE Director of Communications, the position provides an opportunity for the student to build a portfolio of work as they promote ENE.
Job Duties
Social Media Associate duties include creating content for social media posts; combining posts with photos or videos; adding appropriate Purdue-branded logos; tagging individuals; sending posts for final review; and scheduling posts using a social media management platform. For the most part, content will be harvested from information provided to the student worker by staff (either verbally, by email, or through an information-collection form). Examples of post topics include engineering design competition winners; internal/external faculty and student awards; academic/research milestones; student, faculty and alumni profiles/spotlights; undergraduate and graduate student-generated content; summer camps; and events. Training will be provided.
Required Experience
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience with Photoshop or similar photo editing software
- Able to work 10-20 hours per week
- Ability to work independently and on a team
- Comfortable with feedback and iteration
Preferred Experience
- Undergraduate major in Communications, Professional Writing, or English
- Proficiency with brand enablement software such as Marq, Lucidpress or Canva
- Proficiency in social media management platforms such as Later or Hootsuite
- Photographer experience
