Join Purdue IT as a Systems Administrator and help deliver reliable, secure technology solutions that support the university's mission of teaching, research, and engagement. In this role, you'll administer and enhance enterprise and departmental systems, implement upgrades and improvements, monitor performance, and resolve technical issues that keep critical services running smoothly.
Working closely with project teams, business partners, and vendors, you'll contribute to the design, implementation, and support of on-premises and cloud-hosted environments while ensuring security, accessibility, and operational excellence. What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in computer technology, computer science, computer engineering, or related discipline
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in systems, application, web, or database administration required
- In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required experience (Associate's degree + 4 years of experience; HS/HSE+ 6 years of experience)
Preferred:
- At least 2 years of system or application administration experience
- Experience:
- with hardware platforms, infrastructure systems and integration processes
- monitoring and maintaining enterprise applications platforms such as Windows or UNIX/Linux
- working with vendor customer support on issue resolution
- with upgrading software applications
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of systems, networking, and system architectures
- Ability to:
- interact with a variety of customers and colleagues in a professional manner
- coordinate implementations with end-users from various areas
- troubleshoot difficult but typically not complex technical issues
- work a rotating on-call cycle (generally one week in length) and to provide support for applications after hours and on weekends as needed
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with general supervision on daily tasks and projects
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn new skills
Preferred:
- Basic knowledge of security principles
- Knowledge of:
- project management principles
- scripting (Windows/Unix)
- SQL (query writing)

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $62,400 to 66,300 annually commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience. The final salary offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including equity, available budget, educational background, and relevant experience.
