Job Summary

Regional Educators are professionals who translate Land Grant University research into action by developing innovative, research-based learning opportunities that address local, regional, and statewide issues. You will collaborate with university colleagues and a wide range of community stakeholders to assess needs and deliver sustainable educational programs tailored to local assets. Working within interdisciplinary teams, they strengthen communities and expand opportunities through integrated outreach and engagement. You will serve as a thought leader and recognized expert, often leading teams or large-scale initiatives. You will design and deliver extension programs, mentor peers, build strategic partnerships, and shape the vision and execution of Extension education across Indiana.

 

Regional Educators will contribute to one or more of the following interdisciplinary content area specialization:

Economic Resilience and Financial Well-being

Potential Focus areas: Local government/public finance, housing, personal finance, succession planning, workforce development, community economics, succession planning, etc.

Health and Wellness

Potential Focus areas: Individual health, community health, workplace wellness, mental health, substance use prevention, etc.

 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Designing and delivering extension programs, leading the development and implementation of training modules, sustainable research-based educational programs and other educational resources
  • Providing continual oversight of these programs
  • In partnership with Extension Administrators and other stakeholders, evaluating interdisciplinary educational programs and Extension initiatives related to content area(s)
  • Providing subject-matter expertise to guide program direction across content teams
  • Mentoring peers in program planning and implementation
  • Leading or co-leading statewide needs assessments
  • Translating findings into innovative, evidence-based initiatives with measurable outcomes
  • Initiating and leading strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, industry partners, and educational institutions
  • Serving as a representative on local, regional and state advisory groups
  • Collaborating with faculty, Extension specialists, and stakeholders to address and identify collective impact initiatives
  • Provide expert consultation and mentoring to extension educators and external partners. Lead capacity-building efforts and professional development within specialization
  • Securing and managing extramural funding to support programs, pilots, or initiatives
  • Leading or co-authoring grant proposals
  • Publishing and presenting high-impact work at local, regional and state-level venues

What We're Looking For:

  • Master's degree in relevant field based on content area specialization
  • 4 years of experience in Extension and/or related fields 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered (Bachelor's degree + 6 years of experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Experience working with a wide range of audiences and/or communities
  • Experience with digital technologies and online education delivery
  • Excellence in written and oral communication for diverse audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into accessible educational programming
  • Demonstrated ability to secure external funding
  • Proficiency in program evaluation and impact assessment methodologies
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of both rural and urban populations

 

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with specific signature programs relevant to content area
  • Relevant professional certifications or licenses
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in content area(s)
