Job Description
Req Id:  31017
Job Title:  Veterinary Nurse/Technician (Overnight Emergency/Critical Care)
City:  West Lafayette
Job Description:

About Our Opportunity:

Are you a credentialed veterinary technician who loves the nighttime hours? We’ve been looking for you! The Emergency and Critical Care team at the Purdue Veterinary Hospital needs your skills on the overnight shifts. As a teaching hospital supporting 15 different veterinary specialty departments, veterinary technicians in the ECC department have the opportunity to utilize all of their clinical skills working with a diverse caseload of patients. This team will work closely with DACVECC veterinarians, veterinary residents and interns, and VTS (ECC) technicians who offer team members the opportunity to learn and advance. With the prospect of working in both the Emergency department and the ICU a variety of opportunity awaits! Credentialed veterinary technicians in the hospital are encouraged to work independently and utilize critical thinking skills to contribute to patient care. Team members are also supported in working towards their VTS and are mentored through the process.

All veterinary technicians in the veterinary hospital have the opportunity to continually learn new skills and techniques. This knowledge leads to teaching those skills to veterinary and veterinary nursing students. We are looking for someone with a base knowledge of small animal diseases processes, emergency triage, and patient monitoring skills.

The Purdue Veterinary Hospital values credentialed veterinary technicians for the skill and knowledge they bring to the hospital, students, and patients. While staying on the overnight shifts, you’ll have the opportunity to rotate between weeknights and weekend nights as well as participate in ECC on-call. Overnight shifts are paid a shift differential.
