Job Summary

The Veterinary Nursing Supervisor – Surgery/Neurology Services will provide supervisory support to the Orthopedic and Soft Tissue Floor, Neurology, and Physical Rehabilitation veterinary nurses including scheduling, annual performance reviews, recruiting, training, and hiring. The successful candidate will work clinical shifts in the hospital providing demonstration and assistance in both basic and advanced medical procedures to veterinary nurses and veterinary nursing students as well as provide instruction on physiology and advanced disease processes. Assignment to other areas of the hospital in need may be required, as well as holiday rotation and participation in on-call coverage. Additionally, the Veterinary Nursing Supervisor will provide medical leadership on the hospital floor through employee flow management, high-level patient care, and decision making in emergency situations.

 

Required:

  • AAS or BS in Veterinary Technology from AVMA Accredited Veterinary Technology Program
  • Three (3) years in a University Veterinary Teaching Hospital or Veterinary Specialty Hospital as a credentialed veterinary technician
  • Must become RVT in Indiana within 12 months of hire
  • Must possess knowledge level  to explain and demonstrate both routine and advanced veterinary medical concepts and procedures to aid in instruction of veterinary nurses, veterinary assistants, interns, residents, veterinary students, and veterinary nursing students

 

Preferred:

  • Previous supervisory experience
