Job Summary
As a recognized subject matter expert on operations and processes within the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL), this position focuses on leveraging business and operational expertise to enhance laboratory efficiency and effectiveness. The role involves gathering, interpreting, and presenting data across the ADDL to identify business and operational trends and develop insights that assist leadership in making informed decisions. Responsibilities include: Researching and presenting national and regional market trends; conducting comparative analyses (including fee structures); and contributing to the development of ADDL budgets and operational plans.
The analyst will work to influence parties at an operational level regarding policies, practices, and procedures. They will develop and maintain expert level knowledge of veterinary software used in the College, as well as emerging trends and vendor offerings. They will analyze and provide solutions to laboratory operational business process problems. Problems typically impact multiple departments or specialties and are numerous and undefined, requiring detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation. The individual will communicate with parties within the University and external parties including peer institutions, vendors, and veterinary practices. Maintain deep knowledge of College areas typically obtained through higher education combined with relevant experience.
The analyst will be at the forefront of strategic planning and executing complex, organization-driven initiatives or business operations. The individual will collaborate with senior leadership, information technology, business offices, and project management resources, defining project scope, developing comprehensive plans, managing budgets, and overseeing deliverables. This role will be instrumental in fostering engagement with key staff and external stakeholders, acting as a steward of the College’s electronic information. The analyst will ensure efficient knowledge sharing and foster a culture of continuous learning within a secure, regulated environment both internally and with contracted vendors.
About us:
The Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) at the Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine, located in West Lafayette, IN, is seeking a full time Operations Analyst. The ADDL is a full-service veterinary diagnostic laboratory that serves the state of Indiana by providing both routine and regulatory diagnostic services to support Indiana veterinarians, animal health officials, livestock producers and animal owners.

What is required:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, business, or related fields
- Four of experience in veterinary medicine and/or higher education
- In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience.
- Experience leading teams
- Ability to work well under pressure, facilitate solutions, meet deadlines and milestones
- Active listening skills
- Experience gathering/documenting complex and changing business requirements
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of process analysis methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma
- Ability to analyze data, trends, and processes to extract meaningful insights
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written to convey complex information to stakeholders at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to define business requirements and implement business process redesign
- Knowledge or experience in business process improvement methodologies
