Job Summary
Purdue University is seeking a competent and productive Instruction Specialist in Veterinary Nursing. The ideal candidate will have instructional experience and the ability to work independently. This role involves achieving day-to-day objectives that impact the instructional operations of both the veterinary nursing and DVM curriculums.
The Instruction Specialist will utilize specialty knowledge from higher education or years of clinical experience to contribute to course objectives and outcomes for courses and lab instruction. Effective communication with parties within the veterinary and veterinary nursing programs, and occasionally with external parties, is essential. The role also involves influencing operational policies, practices, and procedures. Coordination with other instructors and administrators is necessary to ensure course outcomes and objectives are met.

What We’re Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in animal science, veterinary technology, education, instruction or closely related field
- Two years of experience working as a veterinary technician
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
Skills Needed:
- Must become RVT in Indiana within 12 months of hire
- Ability to listen to and follow both verbal and written directions
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills with the ability to read and write in English
- Must possess knowledge level enough to explain and demonstrate routine veterinary medical concepts and procedures to aid in instruction of veterinary students, and veterinary technology students
Preferred:
- Registered Veterinary Technician from AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology Program
- University Veterinary Teaching Hospital or Veterinary Specialty Hospital as a credentialed veterinary nurse
- Teaching experience
