Job Summary

The Purdue University Veterinary Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic, credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) to add to our Physical Rehabilitation team. Working for the physical rehabilitation department, you will have the opportunity to help patients get back to their physical health after injury and/or following a variety of surgical procedures. We work with a variety of patients – from the young to the geriatric and critically ill. Occasionally we also work horses, pigs and small ruminants.
 
The Physical Rehabilitation veterinary technician helps to treat patients using a variety of modalities like LASER therapy, hydrotherapy (swimming pool and underwater treadmill), performing land exercises, massage, and assisting with acupuncture. If you have a strong desire to help your patients get back to a better quality of life, enjoy working with a team, and want to connect with animals and people alike then this is the job for you! Being certified in physical rehabilitation is not required, and financial assistance to achieve certification may be available to the right candidate. Schedule is M-F daytime with an on-call rotation for neurological surgical emergencies.

What We’re Looking For:
Education and Experience

 

Qualified candidates will need:

 

  • AAS in Veterinary Technology from AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology Program
  • Must become RVT in Indiana within 12 months of hire

 

Skills Needed:

  • Able to listen to and follow both verbal and written directions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to read and write in English
  • Must possess knowledge level enough to explain and demonstrate routine veterinary medical concepts and procedures to aid in instruction of veterinary students, and veterinary technology students
  • Must complete Purdue Veterinary Technician Basic Skills List prior to promotion to Lead Veterinary Technician

 

Preferred:

  • 1 year of working in a veterinary hospital is ideal, specialty practice
