Program Assistant

Job Summary

As the Program Assistant you will be stepping into an exciting role with The Office of Programs for Study Abroad!

The chosen candidate will diligently attend to matters of outbound Purdue students and programs, assist the associate director and advising team in support of students as assigned, and facilitate Study Abroad events throughout the year.  This staff person will interact with multiple audiences of students, Purdue staff, and staff from external entities.  This will include cross-cultural settings where communication skills, customer service acumen, and professionalism is a must.  Overseeing both Purdue and non-Purdue study abroad scholarship matters is a key part of this job, as is supporting multiple aspects of enrollment management processes in all phases for both outbound Purdue students and incoming international exchange students.  This includes active engagement with the community of offices at Purdue University (e.g. Risk Management, Registrar, Bursar, Financial Aid) to help accommodate their specific needs.  Working with incoming international exchange students for timeliness, accuracy, and compliance is another aspect of this position for intakes twice annually.  Other duties as in support of the office, team, or at the behest of the Director may also be required.

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • A combined two (2) years of experience in international education/programs, working or studying abroad, clerical work, administrative office work, and/or customer service

  • Ability to interact with multiple audiences internally and cross-culturally in a professional, customer-centric manner

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Proficiency in software: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Email/Calendar

  • A strong passion for study abroad

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree 

  • Personal study or internship abroad experience
