Lab Assistant - Student Clerical

Lab Assistant - Position Summary

Report for work at assigned Instructional lab. Assist Purdue Community with using lab facilities. Report all problems, including: hardware, software,
personnel, and facilities. Monitor the lab for missing or broken equipment and report all problems in a timely manner.

  • Provide customer service in the ITaP computer labs, assist customers with any questions or lab issues
  • Work in assigned lab during scheduled work hours 
  • Keep facilities clean and orderly - clean station table tops, monitors, keyboards, and clear trash or debris from stations
  • Prepare facilities for use according to the class schedules
  • Monitor lab and report all problems via Confluence website, Slack, or phone
  • Inspect lab hourly for problems, push in chairs, and log off unused computers
  • Change Signs for Exams, Classes, Events, Open Lab
  • Replace printer toners; Print Shipping labels for used toner Recyling
  • Print and place Printed out of order signs as needed
  • Refund money for bad or failed print jobs
  • Reconnect disconnected mice, keyboards, monitors.
  • Restart computers that are powered off
  • Report offline computers
  • Keep printers stocked with paper and clear of paper jams
  • Lift 10 to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Hours:  Opening (6:45-8:30am or 7:45-10:30am) or closing (7:30 - 11:30 PM) availability required.  Requirements may change slightly each semester based on staffing needs.

Starting rate:  $7.25/hr
