Job Summary
Provide administrative support for the Gifted Education Research & Resource Institute (GER2I) co-directors, faculty, and youth program coordinators. Independently perform administrative functions, such as communicating clearly and effectively with GER2I staff; purchasing instructional materials, office supplies, and classroom supplies for youth enrichment programs; scheduling meetings and events; maintaining a database of participants in academic and youth programs; and assisting in preparing and disseminating reports. Other office responsibilities include managing two email accounts, responding to requests for general information about academic and youth programs, drafting or editing correspondence for internal and external partners, and compiling data for reports and presentations. This on-site position will work approximately 20 hours per week or less on the Purdue West Lafayette campus. The anticipated start date is as soon as possible.
Required
- High School Diploma/GED
- Three or more years of experience in an administrative support role
- Strong written communication skills, including proofreading, editing, and attention to detail
- Strong verbal communication skills, including asking questions, clarifying instructions, and keeping stakeholders informed.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet deadlines, and work in an environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to work collegially with international, national, and local school partners with diverse populations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational/time management skills
- Advanced computer and related software skills including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to collaborate and communicate in a timely manner with individuals at all levels within and external to the university
- Ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures and to proactively resolve issues or improve processes in consultation with GER2I faculty
- Fully supporting the mission and work of GER2I
Preferred
- Experience in a college/university setting
- Experience with customer service and/or project management
- Experience in marketing academic and youth programs
- Experience with Purdue branding guidelines
- Experience with social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Age 21 or older and willing to drive a van on occasion (we will train).
