Join Our Team – Academic Advisor, College of Science (Computational Science Program)
The College of Science at Purdue University (West Lafayette) is seeking a student-centered Academic Advisor to support undergraduate students in the Computational Science program. We believe strong, individualized relationships are key to student success—and that great advising can transform a student’s academic experience.
As an Academic Advisor, you will foster a welcoming environment where students feel a sense of belonging and are empowered to fully engage their undergraduate experience. You’ll guide students through academic planning, decision-making, and degree progress while helping them connect with opportunities aligned with their academic, personal, and career goals.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Builds authentic, respectful relationships with students
- Uses an asset-based approach that values students’ unique identities and strengths
- Communicates proactively and uses data to support student success
- Knows when and how to refer students to campus resources
- Understands and upholds student confidentiality and university policies
- Enjoys helping students navigate university systems with confidence
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster an equity-minded, student-centered advising environment
- Empower students to become active, informed participants in their education
- Advise students on course selection, registration, and degree requirements
- Connect students with campus programs, services, and opportunities
- Maintain regular communication and conduct data-informed outreach
- Refer students to appropriate campus resources as needed
- Educate students on university structures, policies, and best practices
- Ensure compliance with university policies and maintain confidentiality
- Collaborate with faculty and staff on student success and retention initiatives
This position is located on the Purdue West Lafayette campus and has an anticipated salary of $46,000 annually.

Education and Experience Required:
- Must have an earned graduate or professional degree in a field relevant to the position
- Equivalencies are not accepted for this position
Skills Needed:
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to:
