Academic Advisors challenges and supports students by creating meaningful opportunities for learning, development, and the integration of curricular and co-curricular experiences. They center students through an asset-based lens, tailoring guidance to meet students where they are and recognizing the importance of each student’s unique social capital.
In this role, Advisors guide students in selecting courses and navigating the registration process, help them identify campus activities and programs connected to their major, and maintain consistent, proactive communication with their assigned caseload. They use data to monitor academic progress, conduct degree audits, and provide timely outreach, while assessing when students would benefit from referrals to campus resources and ensuring the confidentiality of student records. Advisors also help students understand the university’s structure, systems, policies, and practices so they can more effectively navigate their academic journey.

Qualified candidates will need:
- Must have an earned graduate or professional degree.
Skills needed:
- Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, current and prospective students, parents, and families.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to problem solve and utilize campus resources for individuals and groups.
- Ability and willingness to work in a changing environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
What is helpful :

- Knowledge of field related to majors advised.
