Administrative Assistant, Agricultural Economics
Job Summary
The Administrative Assistant in the Department of Agricultural Economics serves as the front/main office contact for anyone who visits or interfaces with the department. This position interacts with faculty, staff and students in the department, College of Agricultural and other university offices including business offices. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Analyzes and answers incoming calls and questions or directs callers to appropriate staff for resolution
- Maintain calendars, arrange travel and schedule meetings
- Assist with small event coordination including room reservations, setups, resources needed, and catering
- Order supplies and ensure proper functioning of office equipment
- Work closely with the department business office
- May be party to confidential discussions and communications, and must maintain confidentiality of this information
What We're Looking For:
- High School diploma/GED
- 2 years of experience in a clerical or administrative support role
- Self-motivated, works well on a team, and exercise sound judgement in prioritizing tasks
- Ability to analyze, interpret and implement university policies and procedures
- Willingness to learn new skills, take on new challenges and initiatives, and have the persistence and organization to map out and complete tasks
- Capable of taking initiative, assuming responsibility and handling confidential information with discretion
- Committed individual with skills needed to oversee and participate in all aspects of multi-faceted divisional office
- Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
- Computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc
- Typing, drafting, filing, data entry, proofreading and editing skills
- Ability to identify routine problems and implement or recommend solutions
Nice to Have:
- Some professional meeting and/or event planning experience
- Experience with Concur travel (domestic and international) and acting as a delegate for others within Concur
