Job Summary
The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Purdue Policy Research Institute (PPRI), with a primary focus on supporting institute programs, events, and external engagement activities. This role contributes to the coordination and execution of high-visibility initiatives, including conferences, workshops, and symposiums, by performing a range of administrative and logistical support functions.
This position assists with scheduling, meeting logistics, and general office operations. The Administrative Assistant supports communication and coordination with faculty, students, and external stakeholders, including industry, government, and community partners, by preparing materials, maintaining records, and assisting with event-related logistics.
Responsibilities are performed within established processes and guidelines and require strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What We're Looking For:
- High School Diploma/BED
- Three or more years of experience in an administrative support role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
- Advanced computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels within and external to the university to support department needs
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues or improve processes
- Ability to identify problems and implement or recommend solutions
- Drafting, proofreading and editing skills
