Administrative Assistant

Job Summary

The Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies is seeking an Administrative Assistant. This is a newly created position that reports to the Administrative Services Manager, and is responsible for providing high-level support to Associate Deans, Department Heads, Associate Department Heads, Directors, Faculty and Staff in the Libraries. This support includes but is not limited to scheduling meetings in Outlook/Teams/WebEx/Zoom, booking conference rooms, assisting with Concur travel booking and expense reports, drafting correspondence, taking meeting minutes and helping with other projects as needed. In addition, this position serves as a receptionist, and will provide backup support to other administrative assistants on an as-needed basis. This position may alternate working in different office spaces, so strong organizational skills and flexibility are required. 



  • High school diploma/GED
  • 2 years of experience in an administrative support, customer service, or clerical role
  • Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Computer and related software skills to include Word, Outlook, Internet, etc.
  • Typing, drafting, filing, data entry, proofreading and editing skills
  • Ability to identify routine problems and implement or recommend solutions
