The Aircraft Maintenance Technician—Associate/Specialist—serves as an FAA-certified airframe and powerplant mechanic, responsible for performing required inspections and repairs on all aircraft assigned to the School of Aviation & Transportation Technology. In addition to maintaining high safety and compliance standards, this role supports essential fleet operations through tasks such as towing aircraft, ground deicing, cleaning, fueling, hangaring, and ensuring security. Technicians assist with recordkeeping and documentation in line with FAA regulations, aircraft service bulletins, service letters, and technical manuals, while also supporting the upkeep of ground support equipment and physical facilities.

As a Specialist, the technician will additionally instruct aviation maintenance students as assigned by the supervisor or Director of Maintenance, helping educate future professionals using their expertise. Both Associate and Specialist Technicians collaborate to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations throughout the Purdue University aircraft fleet, contributing to the School’s overall mission and service excellence

What We Are Looking For :

Education and Experience

Qualified candidates will need:

SK1

  • HS Diploma / GED
  • Federal Aviation Administration Aircraft Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings. 

SK2

  • HS Diploma / GED.
  • Three (3) years of experience as an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic in aviation maintenance required.

 

Skills required:

  • Computer literacy with MS office products. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
