Job Summary
The Animal Research Technician supports laboratory research by conducting animal-based experiments, developing and following research protocols, preparing chemicals and solutions, performing biological assays, and coordinating data collection, analysis, and graphing. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate research and animal records, contributing to manuscript preparation, training undergraduate and graduate students, maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering supplies, and participating in weekly lab meetings. The role also encompasses comprehensive animal care and breeding management, including feeding and watering animals, cage washing, health monitoring, maintaining census and environmental records, coordinating veterinary care, performing euthanasia, monitoring breeding colonies, documenting pregnancies, births, genetic backgrounds, and breeding outcomes, and ensuring full compliance with AALAC rules and regulations.

Required:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two years of experience working in a laboratory setting.
Skills Needed:
- Excellent communication skills, data management, and software skills.
- Ability to receive training to perform experimental procedures that will involve procuring and processing animal blood samples, pipetting, minor surgical techniques, and behavioral testing.
