Application Administrator

Job Summary

The Application Administrator provides support for Purdue University's institutional repository, Elements, which tracks and reports on faculty activities such as research, teaching, and service.  This includes becoming the subject-matter expert on system capabilities, maintenance of the application, monitoring and troubleshooting issues, and implementing new features and workflows to meet campus business needs.  This position can be a fully remote or a hybrid schedule.   Review of applications will begin after March 15th, 2024.

 

Working closely with program stakeholders, this individual will manage the technical functionality of Elements including:

  • Understanding business requirements, identifying application impact, and recommending solutions
  • Configuring the solution to meet the needs of the academic campus community
  • Managing interactions and relationships with the vendor
  • Managing data automation and migration processes
  • Reviewing large data files for system alignment, user needs, and automation tasks
  • Identifying and repairing data quality issues, as necessary
  • Responding to technical support tickets from end users
  • Staying abreast of new features and enhancements for existing solutions
  • Maintaining and developing technical expertise through professional development, including attending conferences and exhibitions

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, technology leadership, information management, statistics, business management or another related field
  • Two or more years of experience in data analysis or application administration
  • Experience in an academic environment
  • Previous experience in application administration, data analysis, business solution implementation processes, or similar experience
  • Ability to repeat mundane tasks with consistent zeal, accuracy, and quality
  • Excellent problem-solver
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues to a diverse set of stakeholders, while maintaining a high degree of professionalism
  • Ability to interpret complex business processes and match those with business solution functionality (i.e., translate user needs/wishes to the vendor).
  • Demonstrated high commitment to quality, along with being highly thorough and dependable
  • Strong commitment to staying involved with and abreast of evolving data-related topics, policies, regulations, and ethical standards
