Job Summary

This Assessment Specialist focuses on implementing and providing ongoing functional and systems support for our new Faculty Activity Reporting system, A.K.A., "Elements".  In this role they ensure Elements is highly utilized from data entry to reporting functionality and beyond.  In essence, this position purposefully integrates humans, processes, and technology to develop, capture, and execute Purdue's robust intellectual infrastructure, so that Purdue's expertise is properly documented and shared or communicated not only within or across our campus, but also across our communities (local, state, national, and international).


This is a hybrid position, requiring the individual to come to the Purdue University, West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses on a weekly or biweekly basis.  The Assessment Specialist will work closely with many leaders across Purdue, in the following ways:  strategic planning, administrative oversight and project management, plus ensuring high quality performance of the IR.

What We're Looking For:



  • You possess a bachelor's degree (preferably in human-computer interaction or design, technology leadership, information management, higher education or student affairs, or another related field).
  • You have three or more years of experience in information management or computer design.
  • You have job experience in an academic environment.
  • You have a basic understanding about the outputs of scholar-experts in higher education (publications, creative activities, patents, grants or funding, advising theses or dissertations, teaching, mentoring faculty or students, etc.) as well as the processes surrounding faculty annual review, plus promotion and tenure.
  • You can repeat mundane tasks with consistent zeal, accuracy, and quality.
  • You are an excellent communicator (you are clear, concise or direct, and effective) with a demonstrated ability to meaningful collaborate with diverse sets of stakeholders and provide an absolute focus on the needs of our scholarly community.
  • You can be a liaison between the technical team and the application user community to provide functional expertise.
  • You can manage the expectations of senior leaders in such a way that balances their vision with respect ot the individual scholar-expert involved in data entry and navigating the processes of annual review or promotion and tenure.
  • You have experience facilitating and leading trainings, focus groups, and workshops to establish current and future business requirements
  • You have experience managing communications, expectations, and needs when implementing and maintaining usage of an institutional repository, software, or similar interface (i.e., UI and UX).
  • You have a strong commitment to staying involved with and abreast of evolving data-related topics, policies, regulations, and ethical standards.
