Job Summary
The Assistant Director within the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR) provides training, feedback, and evaluation of day-to-day work. This role delivers services and programs that support the mission of the OSSR and the umbrella unit of Student Leadership, Engagement, and Community, enhancing the overall quality of the student life experience at Purdue University. The Assistant Director adjudicates student conduct cases and serves as a resource for students, parents, and faculty regarding University policies.
This position leads and manages programs to enhance the value and educational impact of the student conduct experience, embodying Purdue’s commitment to developing leaders, fostering growth, and creating an environment where every Boilermaker can thrive.

Who We Are
The Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS) is an umbrella of units that empower, support and advocate for students in the classroom and beyond. Specialized areas within ODOS includes: Center for Advocacy, Response and Education; Crisis Management; Student Support Services; and the Roger C. Stewart Office of Leadership, Engagement and Community which encompasses: Fraternity, Sorority and Cooperative Life; Leadership and Professional Development; Off-Campus Housing; Student Activities and Organizations; Student Legal Services; and Student Rights and Responsibilities.
What We Are Looking For
Education and Experience:
Required:
- BA/BS
- Four (4) years of previous student conduct administration experience, or related field (see preferred below)
Preferred:
- Related preferred fields: residence life, compliance, Greek life, and/or student activities
- Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel administration, psychology, social work or counseling
Skills:
Required:
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and implement university policies and procedures
- Quick learner with attention to details
- Ability to collaborate and relate to people of all ages and backgrounds
- Excellent time management, organizational and problem solving skills
- Must represent the university with professionalism, tact and diplomacy at all levels
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and lead/mentor others as assigned
Preferred:
- Experience managing others
- Preference given to candidates who have completed tracks at the Donald D. Gehring Academy for Student Conduct Administration
- Experience and/or use of Maxient Student Conduct Administrator database
- Experience with developing and implementing restorative practices to address conduct violations
- Experience with responding to issues involving academic dishonesty
- Experience with the investigation of student organizations
