Job Summary
This Assistant Director, Operations will work collaboratively with another colleague in this same role, and report to the Senior Assistant Director Operations & Reservations. Responsible for managing overall operations of the Cordova Recreational Sports Center (CoREC) a 434,550 square foot, five-floor facility, as well as the Turf Recreation Exercise Center (TREC) a 27,000 square foot synthetic turf facility, to meet the demands of the University community, while also promoting our mission. The combined visit rate for these facilities is 6,500 users a day and 1.5 million visits a year. This position will manage a shared $260k student wage budget and provide leadership through hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating ~90 part-time student staff. Responsible for developing learning outcomes and assessing the growth of their student staff. Will work closely with other Assistant Directors to maintain consistency in policies and procedures related to operations, including maintaining a thorough risk management program. This position will be involved with general facility needs including both preventative and reactive maintenance. Participate in budget allocation and program outreach efforts. Develop and cultivate relationships with campus and non-campus constituents. Some evening and weekend work is required.

What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sport management, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in facility management, operations, staff supervision, or customer service. Can consider direct graduate experience.
- Ability to cooperatively manage all aspects of daily facility operations by being a service-minded trouble-shooter.
- Must display ability to establish long and short-term operational goals consistent with the mission of the university and the division.
- Ability to utilize management software (such as Fusion) to monitor facility operations, memberships, programs, and activities to manage a large multi-dimensional department.
- Ability to work collaboratively with administrative, clerical, service, and student staff.
- Must show ability to build, develop, and cultivate relationships across campus with a variety of constituents.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement employee-training sessions and supervise a large student workforce.
- Successful candidate will be self-motivated, energetic, service-minded and adept at solving problems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents.
- Must possess strong communication (written/oral) as well as interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with computer software (word processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication, etc.).
