Job Summary
The Assistant Director, Professional Education is responsible for academic advising and recruiting for an expanding portfolio of residential Professional Master’s Programs (PMPs) in the Office of Professional Education with the Dean’s Office for Purdue’s College of Engineering. This position will have core responsibility for registration advising and recruiting across the Professional Education residential professional master’s program portfolio, which currently includes Engineering Management, Autonomy, Internet of Things (IoT), and Robotics, with additional programs currently being planned.
The Assistant Director coordinates closely with the Office of Professional Education staff team, while reporting to the Senior Director of Professional Master’s Programs in Engineering. The position will primarily support West Lafayette campus programs, with periodic supplemental support for Purdue in Indianapolis campus programs as they are launched. What You'll Be Doing:
- Function as lead for Professional Master’s Programs academic advising, including student registration meetings, plans of study, Reduced Course Load (RCL) reviews, graduation candidate registrations, degree audits, and grade checks.
- Accomplish registration process each semester for continuing and new students, including registration PINs, workflow approvals, holds, and time tickets.
- Coordinate across university academic departments, primarily within engineering.
- Organize and facilitate multi-faceted recruiting activities, including virtual info sessions, on-campus sessions in West Lafayette and Indianapolis, classroom and seminar presentations, on-site industry events, letter mailings, email campaigns, student organization connections, and more.
- Accomplish corresponding communication with prospective students.
- Provide content and recommendations for marketing and communications related to Assistant Director’s portfolio of residential Professional Master’s Programs (PMPs).
- Assist with operations across the Office of Professional Education, as assigned by supervisor.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in business, higher education student affairs, or other related discipline
- Four (4) years of experience in university administration, student recruitment, student services, event planning, human resources, education, academic counseling, or communication
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
Skills needed:
- Ability to develop and operation graduate programs with domestic and international students
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse group of graduate students, alumni, administrators, faculty and staff
- Foundational skills include problem solving, organization, time management, customer service, creativity, and professionalism
- Must be comfortable learning and working with a wide range of technologies, databases, and software applications
- Must be highly motivated, self-initiating, and a team player
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and make decisions under pressure from students, faculty and staff
