Job Summary

 

This position will work collaboratively with and report directly to the Associate Director – Engagement, Personnel Development, and Camps.  Primary duties are to develop, oversee, and administer all aspects of a summer recreation-based day camp for youth. Must stay abreast of local, regional, and national trends in youth camps. Enhance RecWell's onboarding, offboarding, and interview processes to create a smooth and positive employee experience. Responsible for creating resources like standardized rubrics, and engaging training programs to create a culture of continuous learning within the team. Participate in budget allocation and program outreach efforts. Some evening and weekend work is required.

 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in areas such as recreation, sport management, facility management, or related fields.  
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in camp management, facility/event management, operations, staff supervision. 
  • Can consider direct graduate experience. 
  • Must be American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certified or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Must show ability to establish long- and short-term operational and strategic goals consistent with the university and division's mission. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with administrative, clerical, service, and student staff. 
  • Must show ability to build, develop, and cultivate relationships across campus with a variety of constituents. 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement employee training sessions and supervise a large student workforce. 
  • A successful candidate will be self-motivated, energetic, service-minded and adept at solving problems. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents. 
  • Must possess effective communication (written/oral) as well as interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficient with computer software (word processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication, etc.). 

 

What is helpful:

  • American Red Cross Instructor certification
