Assistant Director of Academic Programs - Undergraduate Recruitment

Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Academic Programs - Undergraduate Recruitment will primarily be responsible for assisting the Dean, Associate Dean and departments within the College of Agriculture in the development and implementation of comprehensive student recruitment and outreach programs. Additional duties will include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Providing high quality service in all interactions with high school counselors, applicants, and parents of prospective students
  • Visiting high schools and community colleges, attending college day/night programs, communicating with prospective students and participating in a variety of recruitment programs
  • Interfacing with all levels of college administration and university officials
  • Providing admissions counseling to prospective students and their families and speaking to individuals and audiences ranging in size from 1 to 1,000+
  • Serving as the liaison for University Admissions office, Exploratory Studies students, National and State FFA, 4-H and Extension, and other critical partners
  • Creating and providing reports on admissions data; monitoring applicants, admits, and accepts
  • Assessing impact of recruitment initiatives on yield of new students.
  • Demonstrating a continued commitment to student success, diversity, equity and inclusive excellence
  • Duties as assigned

Required:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • 4 years experience with high school or undergraduate college students
  • In lieu of degree consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required experience (Bachelor's degree + 6 years of related experience)
  • Experience with social media and publication software
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Excellent public relations skills with the ability to address and engage small and large groups of people necessary
  • Independent problem-solving and judgment skills
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students and parents
  • Ability to learn new technology and programs
  • Willingness to work in a changing environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel and work some nights and weekends
  • Valid U.S. or Canadian driver's license

 

Preferred:

  • One earned degree in an agriculture discipline
  • Experience in some aspect of agriculture, program development, student services, recruitment, and management
  • A sound grasp and understanding of the university recruitment, marketing and orientation process
  • Knowledge of programs and majors at Purdue University
