Assistant Director of OOR Space and Facilities

Job Summary

The Assistant Director of OOR Space & Facilities is integral in advising and interfacing with university officials including Deans of Colleges, the Executive Vice-President for Research, Purdue University in Indianapolis, University’s Physical Facilities Department, Auxiliary Services, Facilities Operations, Environmental Health and Safety, and more. This position will serve as a primary point of contact with university officials for capital construction, renovations, security, insurance, space infrastructure upgrades/repairs and other facility related functions; including coordination of activities associated with relocations of personnel and equipment when necessary.  You will ensure the day-to-day operations of facilities managed by the Office of Research are maximized and optimized to meet the needs of researchers, faculty, and staff, also including the communication of facilities-related activities and programs.

The Office of Research has over 300,000 square feet assigned for its use in 25 buildings across campus including on-campus laboratory, classroom and office space, related infrastructure systems, and core laboratories. By leveraging knowledge and information regarding these facilities and the people using these facilities, emerging and future opportunities for expanding and creating new research opportunities will be identified, documented, nurtured, and communicated to university leadership.


The Assistant Director of the Office of Research Space and Facilities is a newly created position to continue supporting bringing more students and faculty to public service. This position will lead the charge with the Purdue Applied Research Institution regarding maximizing approximately 100,000 square feet throughout four buildings including high tech laboratories and secure space. PARI will also have a sustained physical presence in Washington, D.C., working to connect critical partners for vital advances in national security, defense, and innovation.  
 

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, science/engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience to include:
    • Demonstrated:
      • ability to understand building plans
      • experience managing multiple complex projects that have budget, staff, and construction components  experience in creating and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
