Assistant Professor in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies [Tenure-Track]

Job Description

The Department of Educational Studies within the College of Education at Purdue University seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to join Purdue University’s nationally ranked and nationally recognized Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) Program.  According to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, Purdue University is a “very high research activity” campus.

 

With degree offerings at the M.Ed., Ed.S. and Ph.D. levels, The Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program prepares researchers and practitioners for higher education and K-12 building and district level administration.

 

This is a 9-month tenure-track position with a starting date of August 14, 2023.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Maintain a strong research program and publish in peer-reviewed journals, while building and/or maintaining a competitive, externally fundable/funded research program.
  • Teach courses (both face to face and online) in Educational Leadership at the graduate level (2/2 load).
  • Serve on program, department, and college committees and participate in other College of Education (COE) activities as appropriate, which might include forming collaborations with faculty, mentoring students,  and contributing to program area and departmental activities and meetings.

Required Qualifications

Applicants for the position must hold a doctoral degree in educational leadership or a related/relevant discipline from an accredited doctoral granting institution by the position start date. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of effective graduate level mentoring and teaching skills. Evidence of relevant research expertise and experience is expected. Candidates should be familiar with both online and face-to-face instruction. Demonstrated interest in and commitment to the diversity and social justice mission of the program and College is valued.

Preferred Qualifications

  • School building level and district level administration (Principal/Superintendent)
  • Experience at a state and/or federal education agency;
  • Graduate level teaching experience;
  • Experience mentoring and/or chairing dissertation students;
  • Experience and/or research expertise in education finance, educational policy, school improvement science, program assessment and evaluation, strategic execution, school board function and relations, and/or school branding and marketing; and
  • Active participation with professional associations contributing to the field.
