Assistant Professor of Physics & Astronomy
Job Summary
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Purdue University seeks applications for an academic year appointment of Assistant Professor in the area of theoretical or experimental biological physics. All areas of biological physics will be considered. We are interested in an outstanding scientist with an established track record, a commitment to leading a preeminent research program, and a clear vision for future innovation. Current research efforts apply a variety of experimental and theoretical techniques to investigate intracellular and molecular dynamics, microbiology, cell growth, cell sensing, protein function, and ultra-fast electron and energy transfer dynamics in a variety of systems.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, biophysics or a closely related field, a of research accomplishments, and potential in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates are expected to develop a research program, obtain significant research funding, supervise graduate students, and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.

The Department and College: The Department of Physics and Astronomy has over 55 tenured and tenure-track faculty, over 190 graduate students, and 280 undergraduate students.
