Assistant Technical Coordinator - Live Event Production

About Our Opportunity:

As the Assistant Technical Coordinator, you will serve as the live event technician, operator, and event technical lead. This position will assist in planning, design, construction and operation of audio, lighting, video and staging systems for Hall of Music Productions. This role will participate in the set up and maintenance of production systems in support of live events and demonstrate expertise in the operation of audio, video, lighting and stage equipment related to live events. The Assistant will utilize knowledge of live production equipment and systems in the execution of complex live events while helping evaluate personnel, materials, and equipment needs to ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance to maximize system performance. During live performances, this person will maintain quality and performance of all systems and manage technical aspects of event productions and lead technical teams as necessary. In this role, you will help supervise and instruct staff and students in event production methods and principles. The Assistant will work with Event Production Managers and a variety of coworkers, students and clients to ensure high quality technical support.

Hall of Music Productions serves as Purdue University’s professional in-house production company to provide the latest technological offerings in audio, lighting, staging, live video, and video pre and postproduction for events on and off campus. We produce over 1100 events annually, each custom created with the client’s vision in mind. Our team is growing and we are currently looking for an Assistant Technical Coordinator - Live Event Technician.

 

What We're Looking For:
Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Three years of technical production work.
  • Experience in technical area equipment and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure, pay close attention to detail, and deal with a variety of daily obstacles to live event production work. 
  • Skills in rigging, electrical, sound reinforcement, video and/or stage systems.
  • Ability to functionally supervise, train and direct staff.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to do basic math, filing, and office procedures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and customer support.

Preferred:

  • Four year degree.
