Job Summary

 

The School of Sustainability Engineering and Environmental Engineering (SEE) at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Purdue University seeks to attract exceptional candidates with interests and expertise in sustainability engineering. Specific topics of interest include but are not limited to energy and resource efficiency, recycling/remanufacturing, sustainable manufacturing, green design, and life cycle engineering. Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Sustainability Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related discipline by the employment start date. Early-career applicants should show evidence of initiating independent research, while mid-career applicants should demonstrate a sustained record of independent research within academic or industrial organizations, and contributions to education and/or mentoring. The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the School, College, and University levels.

The School of Sustainability Engineering and Environmental Engineering (SEE) at Purdue University embraces both classic environmental engineering and sustainability engineering. The research of SEE embraces issues related to legacy, existing, and potential environmental challenges/opportunities. The SEE discovery mission is positioned to respond to society’s need to understand the world we live in, and to develop strategies for sustainably managing Earth’s limited resources and ecosystems so that they will be available for generations to come. SEE students learn systems engineering techniques to proactively avoid environmental problems to ensure that engineering systems are created that can exist in harmony with the natural world and serve society.
