Associate Academic IT Specialist

Job Summary

The Academic IT Specialist, Associate will assist with developing, coordinating and maintaining enterprise level Windows, MacOS and Linux environments as part of an integrated team effort in support of research and instructional goals of the College of Health and Human Sciences.


Core responsibilities are to:

  • Consult with faculty, staff and students, and exercise independent judgment to develop and maintain computing environments as required for their research, administrative and instructional goals

  • Analyze software and hardware system problems in support of end user goals and recommend or perform corrective measures

  • Develop methodology for and provide consultation to faculty, staff and students in order for them to accomplish their goals
  • Supervise student staff, including training, reviewing workloads, reassigning tasks as required to ensure timely completion of projects or to take advantage of special capabilities of the personnel
  • Recommend and implement approved document changes to internal IT procedures and policies



  • Bachelor’s degree

  • One (1) year of demonstrable experience in Windows and MacOS

  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience

  • Knowledge of Windows operating system
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of computer hardware, software, operating systems, peripherals, etc.
  • Ability to work independently to complete complex tasks and projects on time
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively support and consult with users
  • Ability to troubleshoot a variety of environments
  • Ability to lift and carry 10 to 25 pounds frequently and 40 pounds occasionally



  • Bachelor's degree in a computer related field
  • Experience with hardware maintenance of advanced computer, peripherals and networking systems
  • Experience providing support to users in a university environment
