Associate Communications & Marketing Specialist
Job Summary
The Associate Communications & Marketing Specialist is an entry-level position that will, under the guidance and direction of The Walsh Group Director of Internships, develop, implement, and manage a communication plan and related strategies for the Division of Construction Engineering and Management (CEM). Serve as the central point of organized communication for both internal and external audiences. Write, edit, and produce a wide variety of communication pieces to grow the social networking outreach and presence for the office. Develop web content, presentations, print newsletters, e-newsletters, news releases, articles, marketing materials (brochures, flyers, posters, etc.), and specialized correspondence. Assist in the coordination of special events that enhance public relations for the office. Develop an alumni outreach plan to build and strengthen relationships with alumni and prospective donors through various engagement initiatives in coordination with The Walsh Group Director of Internships and the Department Head.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Social media plan and execution of branding and messaging for recruiting and promotion of the program and its people (faculty, staff, students)
- Plan, develop, and create/produce marketing materials for the program
- Assist in our alumni outreach relative to planning, developing, and executing engagement activities (e.g., CEMOAA)
- Plan, develop, and create endeavors associated with development activities (e.g., PDoG)
- Plan, develop, and create external messaging to stakeholders (e.g., newsletter)
- Plan, develop, and create events associated with the program (e.g., 50th anniversary)
*This is a hybrid position. (75% on-site and 25% remote).*

What We Are Looking For
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, or related discipline
- 0-1 year of experience with communications, marketing, writing, or related field
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
- For example, an Associate's degree and 2.5 years of experience or a High School Diploma and 4.5 years of experience
SKILLS:
REQUIRED:
- Strong conceptual understanding of communications, public relations, and marketing
- Familiarity with marketing collateral development and related project management
- Detail-oriented, creative problem-solver with strong communication, writing, and editorial skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and to follow through on multiple projects at various stages
- Highly motivated individual with a demonstrated capacity for leadership and teamwork
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Ability to represent the university with tact and diplomacy at all levels as well as handling confidential documents and information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, website content management, internet, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media platforms
