Associate Custodian (Night) - Building Services

Pay is $15.00/hr plus $0.45 shift differential. 
•    Are you a night owl, and prefer having time off during the day? Enjoy a non-traditional schedule. Hours: Sunday thru Thursday, 10:30 pm to 7 am

•    Your professional growth is up to you. Start out as an Associate Custodian. Next level is Custodian. Then Senior Custodian. 


•    Stable work or education history with good attendance record
•    Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English to effectively communicate and understand others.
•    Basic math skills and good work organization
•    Ability to learn and use powered and non-powered floor care equipment
•    Ability to work well with others and work in a team environment
•    Learn and follow safety procedures; includes the wearing personal protective equipment as required
•    Ability to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally
•    Work outdoors 10% of the time in temperatures below 32 degrees and above 90 degrees  
•    Learn to provide custodial services for the University in areas such as restrooms, classrooms, offices, research labs and public spaces.


•    High School Diploma/GED
•    Six (6) months of custodial, service worker, housekeeping, or janitorial experience
•    Two years of general work experience

Additional Information:
•    This position represents a dual-level posting and will be filled as an Associate Custodian or Custodian. The Hiring Manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.
•    Purdue will not sponsor an employment authorization for this position
•    Occasional overtime may be required
•    A background check will be required for employment in this position
•    FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible For Overtime)
•    Retirement Eligibility: Non-exempt Defined Contribution Plan
