Associate Director, Minority Engineering Program

Job Summary

The Associate Director for the Minority Engineering Program (MEP) will lead the planning and execution of all K-12 and undergraduate programs for the Minority Engineering Program from all around the country.  This includes analyzing national engineering data to drive the development and execution of goals aimed to improve Purdue University's programmatic content and metric results against the national average.  The associate director will also develop activities to provide pathways to success for national outreach efforts in K-12 and more than 500 undergraduate students within the College of Engineering.

 

Required:

  • Master's degree in STEM related field
  • Six (6) years of experience in academic program development, planning and execution
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related eduation and required work experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience researching, writing, securing and managing grants
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of pre-college and college students, alumni, administrators, faculty and staff
  • Experience supervising professional staff
  • Experience providing excellent customer service while handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Experience researching and analyzing national engineering data in order to make timely and impactful decisions despite pressure from students, faculty, and parents and staff
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple large projects
  • Ability to teach student courses
  • A valid US or Canadian driver's license
  • Up to 15% travel is expected for off-campus meetings and conferences

 

Preferred:

  • PhD in engineering
  • Knowledge of engineering curriculum and engineering profession
