Job Summary
The Associate Director of Creative Services – Graphic Design will work with the Director of Creative Services to spearhead graphic design efforts and work with the creative team to support the print, digital, photography, and motion graphic needs of Purdue Athletics. This position will also lead departmental efforts to update and enhance facility branding and serve as the main contact for brand standard compliance outside of the Creative Services department.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead graphic design team in conceptualization and creation of social media graphics for marketing, ticket sales, and individual sport communication.
- Support the creative team with graphic content for video productions and motion graphic content as needed.
- Assist in the development of sales and brand campaigns.
- Gain an understanding of targeted audiences and strategically build creative advertising pieces accordingly.
- Serve as brand liaison for the athletics department.
- All projects should be delivered at a high quality and meet identified goals and expectations.
- Production management of all facility graphic requests.
- Includes sport-by-sport needs for yearly installation updates such as locker room nameplates, exterior banners, etc.
- Must work with vendors on pricing, production and installation.
- Work with the recruiting committee in ideation and planning of sport-by-sport recruiting graphic needs.
- Work with teams and communication staffs on needs and development of templates.
- Conceptualization and creation of posters and other collateral material for all sports, as well as event credentials and parking passes.
- Design and layout the department’s quarterly magazine FORGE.
- Proactively align project execution and campaign direction with department and company goals while maintaining a sales and branding focus at all times.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Design, Multimedia or related field of study
- Five (5) years design and advertising experience within the sports, entertainment, or advertising industry
- Experience with photography and motion graphics preferred
Skills needed:
- Must be able to work independently and with a creative team on projects from concept to completion while exhibiting strong leadership skills and the ability to accept constructive criticism.
- Possess a firm understanding of the principles of art/design and possess the ability to use that knowledge to create aesthetically pleasing, impactful graphic content.
- Must also have a working knowledge of print production.
- Professional competency with Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is required.
- Experience with After Effects preferred as well as knowledge of current internet design standards.
- Ability to manage several projects concurrently and be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Experience in fast-paced work environments is essential.
- Must be an effective communicator and be able to clearly and concisely explain project ideas and details.
- Must be able to lead a team comprised of full-time staff and students as well as interact effectively with administration, coaches, student-athletes, support staff, and vendors.
- Understand the importance of brand standards and operate within identity guidelines.
- Must possess an expansive knowledge of sports and adhere to the applicable rules and standards of the Big ten Conference, the NCAA, and the Big Ten Network.
- Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Proactive, creative thinker able to troubleshoot issues and solve problems.
- LIMITED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Lift and carry up to 10 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs.
