Associate Systems Engineer

Working under immediate supervision and alongside experienced professionals, you’ll assist in the development, installation, coordination, and maintenance of enterprise-level Windows, macOS, and Linux environments. You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting system operations, software management tools, and IT processes designed to advance Purdue’s instructional goals.

 

This position is unique as it supports the four rural Family Health Clinics that are located in Burlington, Delphi, Monon, and Wolcott that are associated with the College of HHS. In addition to the four clinical buildings, we also have an administrative building in Delphi which is the main workspace for this position. Between the sites, we cover approximately 160 users including staff and providers.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues
  • Use independent judgment to resolve complex technology problems
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students to ensure their IT needs are met
  • Install and set up new computers, printers, and peripheral devices
  • Maintain security updates and adhere to established security policies
  • Document new IT processes, procedures, and system changes
  • Contribute to team discussions and provide input during decision making
  • Must be willing to travel to all North Central Nursing Clinic locations (Delphi, Burlington, Monon, Wolcott) as well as the Purdue West Lafayette campus
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must be willing to work occasional weekends

What We're Looking For

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Six (6) months of professional experience in one or more of the following areas required: Windows, MacOS, or Linux systems administration. Hardware maintenance of advanced computer, peripherals, and networking systems required
    • Purdue IT experience a bonus
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

 

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following is required; familiarity of the rest is desired: Windows, Mac OS, or Linux
  • Familiarity with software redistribution techniques (i.e. SCCM/CM, Puppet, etc.) desired
  • Ability to:
    • work with a wide variety of computer hardware, software, operating systems, peripherals, etc.
    • work with a wide variety of faculty, staff, and students in a multitude of environments like instruction, administration, and research
    • troubleshoot a variety of environments

The anticipated annual salary for this position is between $53,200 to $56,525 commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience. The final salary offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including equity, available budget, educational background, and relevant experience.
