Job Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Associate AD - Business, responsibilities include the day-to-day administration of Intercollegiate Athletics IT support including technical management, direction, planning, purchasing, and systems administration. Monitor and administer technology budget. Manage help desk staff and ensure proper resolution of daily technical issues. Monitor network capacity issues relating to planned area projects. Perform hardware/software needs analysis. Coordinate technical issues with other support areas, vendors and Central IT. Develop area operational policies and procedures. Manage and coordinate special projects - installation of POS systems, installation of new servers, conduct specialized training sessions, etc., as required. Administer Active Directory and MECM. Manage electronic door controls and permissions for all athletes and employees.
What You'll Be Doing:
Departmental IT Planning and Change Management make 30%
Assist Senior Associate AD-Business with the preparation of the departmental technical operating/project budgets and strategic planning. Oversee the day-to-day administration of the computing budget ($250,000K). Monitor expenditures as related to specific IT projects. Make purchases for operational computing needs and recommendations for large-scale departmental software, hardware and infrastructure initiatives. Provide recommendations for IT operational and strategic planning. Assess departmental IT business needs, plan for upcoming service changes, coordinate and prioritize technical activities, and assume responsibility for smooth and consistent departmental user support. Coordinate with Central IT (networking, database, ID card office, etc.) and Physical Facilities in applying new technologies for new or renovated facilities. Monitor, maintain, and administer the MECM packages and Windows Updates. Provide regular status reports and maintain documentation for standard operating procedures. Perform Activity Directory administration tasks, including rules, policies, procedures, account and file services access granting, and group policy management. Additional duties include researching, testing, and training on new systems management technologies and software. Bring together groups of service partners to mediate ownership of responsibilities for data or processes. Communicate with and provide expertise to IT service partners to gain an understanding of ongoing customer and support center needs. Maintain departmental Business Continuity Plan.
Supervision
Responsible for making hiring, termination, pay adjustments, performance feedback and promotion decisions/ recommendations. Assign, instruct/train and review the work of. Information Systems Specialists.
Project Planning
Plan projects with Athletic Department staff members by researching, evaluating, and implementing new technologies where appropriate. Create and monitor policies and procedures as related to specific projects (i.e., Pay Access and Email policies, HIPAA and PCI compliance, etc.). Plan and manage assigned projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and within scope utilizing Central IT project management standards, guidelines, and other available IT tools.
System Administration and Security
Utilize MECM to automate and standardize workstation software installations. Provide back-up support for the Information Systems Specialists. Apply patches, upgrades, etc. to operating systems and software applications through MECM. Identify needs, research and recommend technical solutions and evaluate software to facilitate installations. Recommend and implement processes and software to ensure workstation security. Monitor network and workstation security through departmental antivirus software and vulnerability scanning software. Check user PCs for for any security issues and rectify if found. Monitor workstations to ensure that departmental standards, software applications, and network utilities are current and consistent with the administrative computing environment. Maintain compliance with various policies (HIPAA, PCI, FERPA, NCAA).
Facility Access
Develop and implement schedules for all electronic door locks for Athletics facilities, including gameday, holiday, and event schedules. Coordinate software updates and replacement of hardware. Scan fingerprints for all athletes, Athletics employees, contract employees, Purdue facilities employees, and first responders. Assign users to permissions schedules based on access needs. Update permissions and door schedules based on seasonal needs.
Gameday and Event Support
Provide on premises IT support for all home football games. Oversee temporary employees for all home MBB and WBB IT support. On call for all athletics home games and events. Coordinate with various vendors prior to and during events to ensure seamless operations (television, radio, ticketing, stats, etc.)

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Four (4) years’ experience managing the installation and maintenance of the hardware and software components of a local area network, including installation of workstation operating systems and administration of users, workstations, and groups in a networked environment
- Supervisory experience necessary
- Computing related field preferred
Skills needed:
- Must adhere to and comply with Purdue University, Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA rules, policies, procedures and regulations.
- Must have good communication, planning, and organization skills.
- Must be able to work independently within a managed computing support framework.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems and assist others in developing those skills.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and administration.
- Ability to evaluate impacts of technology on business operations and recommend a course of action.
- Knowledge of PCs in Windows desktop environment.
- Knowledge of network and workstation security, vulnerability assessment, and risk management.
- Windows Server Active Directory user administration and group policy knowledge required.
- Windows MECM administration is desired.
