Brand Content Specialist - Marketing and Communications

Job Summary

Purdue Marketing and Communications is the 2020 American Marketing Association Higher Ed Marketing Team of the Year and the innovative team behind Purdue being the only university named by Fast Company to its inaugural list of Brands That Matter. The role of Brand Content Specialist serves to advance Purdue University’s brand strategy and platform related to content marketing and storytelling. This position supports strategic solutions to build audience affinity, enhance University national and global reputation, attract the very best students, motivate alumni and donors, and recruit high-quality faculty and staff for the University and its Colleges, Schools, and Departments.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Brand Content within the Department of Marketing and Communications, the Brand Content Specialist will learn and maintain deep knowledge of the University’s Mission and brand strategy to support marketing content campaigns and storytelling. As a brand manager for the University, this individual must be able to support a variety of creative content projects, identify storytelling opportunities, provide project guidance for digital storytelling processes, build consensus, problem-solve, and generally operate with optimism. This individual will collaborate with central marketing peers, market research, external strategic partners, Deans, Department Heads, and marketing leaders across Purdue’s campus and university system.
This role will help cultivate, excite, and unite a world-class marketing community at Purdue University. In this position, the Brand Content Specialist will be provided mentoring and professional development opportunities for further skill development in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, market research, advertising, communications, or related field 
  • Three (3) years of traditional marketing and brand building experience and/or experience implementing or leading targeted digital content strategies with a focus on organic and paid social campaigns
  • In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Well-developed writing and presentation skills, proven to effectively influence a wide range of constituencies
  • Strong problem solving and project management skills, ability to prioritize work and manage within limited resources
  • A strong passion and discipline for strategic brand building, storytelling, and insight-based marketing
  • Demonstrated high levels of creativity, curiosity, empowerment, learning agility, effort, and a desire to improve
  • A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing and coaching external vendors, marketing agencies, and media
