Building Operations Manager

Job Summary

The Building Operations Manager is the Mechanical Engineering staff person in charge of and responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, safety and security of the Mechanical Engineering Building, the Gatewood Wing, Railroad Association Building (RAIL), and the Mechanical Engineering building facilities and fixtures located in the Potter Building.  The position reports to the Managing Director of Technical Services in Mechanical Engineering.



  • Bachelor's degree in facilities management, construction technology, or another related field
  • Three years of facilities administration or related experience
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
  • Understanding of building infrastructure and utilities
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to identify and correct workplace hazards and implement safety compliance
  • Ability to undertake project management and budgeting
  • Self-motivated and able to exercise sound judgement in prioritizing tasks in order to meet project deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Basic computer skills



  • Supervisory experience
  • Purdue University experience
