Job Summary
The Senior Business Assistant will provide support and perform business assistant duties for the business operations office within Vet Med, specifically for BMS & Medical Education (IUSM). This position will work collaboratively with departmental faculty, staff, students, and other business units or areas to support the fiscal management process.
This is an on-site position, working on the West Lafayette, IN campus. Potential hybrid work may be considered.
Responsibilities Include:
- Account management, billing and cost center management, effort reporting and forecasting.
- Provide support for faculty, students and staff with travel, procurement, account management, and other business office functions.
- Serve as the first point of contact for all procurement and travel-related questions while assisting departmental faculty, staff, and students with travel and procurement needs.
- Act as a liaison between customers and central offices.
- Assist with special financial tracking needs.

Required:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma/GED.
- Four years of experience in customer service as an account clerk, business, or other related field.
- Experience providing a high level of customer service.
Skills Needed:
- Demonstrated knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, file management and records, forms and other office procedures and terminology.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and professionalism in dealing with students, individuals, and business customers.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multitask, work under pressure, handle interruptions and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems, analyze information and implement solutions.
- Capable of taking initiative, assuming responsibility and handling confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment.
- Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology.
- Demonstrated proficiency in software experience: Microsoft Word, Excel, Database and Outlook/Electronic Email.
- Must be able to work with diverse personalities and backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and analyze complex issues.
- Ability to provide coaching and training to others.
