Job Summary

As the Lead Business Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping department heads, faculty, graduate students, staff, and business offices manage and interpret financial information with consistency, efficiency, and accuracy. Serving as a trusted resource and subject matter expert (SME), you will provide guidance and support that enables departments to achieve their goals while ensuring sound business practices.
Responsibilities Include:
- Account management, billing and cost center management, procurement, travel or related functions.
- Serve as the liaison between these departments: the Purchasing Center, Central Travel and business area.
- Exercise delegated signature approval for a variety of business transactions following delegation policies.
- May develop financial reports for financial planning forecasts or analyze and project data for budget reviews.
- May functionally supervise regular, temporary, and student employees or back up the business manager as appropriate.

Required:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Four years of experience in an office or related business support role.
Skills Needed:
- Experience in SAP, Cognos, and SuccessFactors.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to practice good time management and organizational skills and multi-task.
- Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multitask, work under pressure, handle frequent interruptions, prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn, independently explores capabilities, identifies opportunities to improve productivity, and takes ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.
- Must possess a learning orientation toward changing technology impacting business processes.
- Ability to make sound judgments and observe confidentiality at all times is essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to explain policies and procedures to staff.
- Ability to handle interruptions while meeting deadlines with accurate results and providing exceptional customer service.
- Ability to problem-solve and analyze complex issues.
- Ability to provide coaching and training to others.
