Business Assistant, Ag Employment Center
Job Summary
As the Business Assistant in the College of Agriculture Employment Center, your primary responsibility will be to serve as an on-campus I-9 verifier for the College. You will work closely with other center and business office staff, as well as faculty, departmental staff, and students, to ensure that all I-9 verifications and reverifications are completed following federal guidelines. Additionally, you'll collaborate with various departments to expedite the processing of quick-hire requests for the College. Your role will also encompass various payroll-related tasks, such as completing off-cycle forms, and you will serve as a liaison between departmental business offices and central payroll to analyze, resolve, or recommend action on unique problems as needed.
This position requires an on-campus presence five days a week (M-F). The preferred working hours are from 9 am to 4 pm, with a scheduled lunch break.
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years of account clerk, bookkeeping, business, or related experience
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, file management and records, forms, and other office procedures and terminology
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills and professionalism in dealing with students, individuals, and business customers
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
- Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
- Motivated individual with the ability to efficiently multi-task, work under pressure, handle interruptions, and meet deadlines
- Ability to identify problems, analyze information, and implement solutions
- Capable of taking initiative, assuming responsibility, and handling confidential information with discretion
- Ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment
- Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology
- Proficiency in software experience: Microsoft Word, Excel, Database and Outlook/Electronic Email
Preferred:
- University-related experience
- Experience with SAP and Success Factors
