Purdue University and the College of Liberal Arts Business Office is in search of an individual capable of taking initiative, assuming responsibility, maintaining quality standards, and handling confidential information with discretion to become its next Lead Business Assistant. As the Lead Business Assistant, you will work collaboratively with departmental faculty, staff, students, and other business units or areas to support the financial management process. Responsibilities include account management, billing, and cost center management, effort reporting, and forecasting. Lead daily operations and serve as subject matter expert for account management questions including expenditures, management balance, cash position and closing, and account management guidelines. Develop financial reports for financial planning forecasts or analyze and project data for budget reviews. Exercise delegated signature approval for a variety of business transactions following delegation policies. Serve as team leader by reviewing the work of lower-level employees within the departments and other business offices. May functionally supervise regular, temporary, and student employees and will back up the business manager as appropriate.

Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- High school diploma/GED
- 4+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, business office or related work
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted

- Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
- Must be extremely flexible and adaptable to constantly varying work environments and with limited daily supervision

- Proficient with personal computer and related software (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, database, internet, etc.)
- Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology
- Must possess demonstrated oral and written communication skills

- Demonstrate professional oral and written communication skills
- Exercise excellent planning, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, project management, financial analysis, and customer service skills

- Possess a learning orientation to change technology impacting business processes, e.g. SAP, PERA, etc.
- Be proficient in following software: Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
- Demonstrate originality, creativity, and ability to resolve issues daily
- Handle many customers and communication from customers
- Prioritize incoming communication and stay organized with tasks in-process
What is helpful:
- Knowledge of sponsor and University regulations and basic proficiency in technical and professional skills related to business office and contract grant management
- Knowledge of SAP, Success Factors, Cognos, PERA
