Business Assistant

Job Summary

Purdue University is looking for a Business Assistant to work in the College of Veterinary Medicine.  As a Business Assistant there will be a need to work collaboratively with departmental faculty, staff, students, and other business units or areas. Perform various business functions to support the fiscal management process for organizational units. Tasks may include payroll, procurement, travel, billing and cost center management, effort reporting, or gifts processing, loans and voluntary support. Serve as a resource for areas of responsibility. May develop financial reports, and analyze and resolve or recommend action on unique problems. May assist with budget process, supervise other office staff, and have signature authority.



  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Three years account clerk or accounting experience
  • Knowledge of business office practices and account management guidelines 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism in dealing with students, individuals and business customers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and implement University policies and procedures 
  • Personal computer and related software skills necessary (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, database, internet, etc.)



  • SAP & Cognos experience
  • Previouse business office experience
