Business Manager, Purdue Online Engineering and Office of Professional Practice

The role of Business Manager will provide financial analysis, management, and business support for Purdue Online Engineering and the Office of Professional Practice (OPP).  The Business Manager will also be responsible for the management and administration of business functions. There will also be a need to prepare financial projections and develop business processes that support the continued growth of Purdue Online Engineering and OPP programs. The position will also serve as resource/liaison among the units, college and central offices. There will be a need to provide proper interpretation of University, federal and sponsoring agency policies and procedures. As the Business Manager you will work closely with units, other business entities and central offices in meeting the strategic goals of the university.  Also the manager will provide excellent business support to the directors, faculty, staff and students.



  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two (2) years business administration or financial management or related experience  
  • In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
  • Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent planning, problem-solving, organizational, project management and customer service skills  
  • Ability to influence and build working relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels  
  • Able to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes teamwork to successfully guide the work of others 
  • Proficiency with personal computer and related software skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work with frequent interruptions



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, or related field of study 
  • Six credit hours of accounting or finance coursework
